Neuroscience Symposium supported by IBRO/ APRC under Lecturer Exchange Program (LEP)

The 5th Biennial Conference of South Asian Association of Physiologist ( SAAP V) in conjunction with 2nd Annual Conference of Physiological Society of Nepal (PSN) called SAAPCON-2016( ) was held on 10th November , 2016 to 12th November , 2016 at Kathmandu University (KU) at Dhulikhel, Kavre, Nepal, 40 min drive from International Airport Kathmandu Nepal.

The SAAPCON-2016 Included pre conference workshop on Teaching Physiology, main conference and Post conference workshop. The preconference workshop was sponsored by International Union of Physiological Sciences (IUPS), Post conference workshop sponsored by BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences(BPKIHS, ).

Rt Honorable Prime Minister of Nepal, Mr Puspa Kamal Dahal has given welcome message to SAAPCON- 2016( please see in attached program book page no:5) and conference was inaugurated by honorable Vice- Chancellor of Kathmandu University- Prof. Ram Kantha Makaju Shrestha on 10th November, 2016.

In the main conference there were 7 Symposia including Neuroscience Symposium which was the first one held on 11th November, 2016. (Please find the details of other symposia in attached program book).

Regarding Neuroscience Symposium (please find page no: 30 of attached program book) there were four IBRO -LEP sponsored speakers and other includes myself ( Sunil Dhungel), Dr Kazumasa Tanaka (Japan), Dr Dileep K Rohra (Saudi Arabia) and Prof Arif Sidique (Pakistan). Among them Dr Kazumsa Tanaka (RIKENBSI, Japan) had cancelled his presentation because of arrival problem. During symposium around 170 participants and 30 invited speakers of other symposia were also attended the Neuro-symposium. Dr Ajay Jang Kunwar, Vice-President of NSN had chair the Neuro-symposium session. At the end of Neurosymposium another three young oral presenters were presented their papers. Out of total 60 posters, 10 posters were related to Neuroscience, were presented during tea break time on 11th and 12th November.

Neuroscience Society of Nepal (NSN) had announced best oral and poster prize (50.0 USD, token of appreciation and certificates) for Nepalese presenters. After careful evaluation, prize will be awarded during 2nd annual conference of Neuroscience Society of Nepal (NSN) held on mid of 2017 (proposed). During whole preconference, main conference and post conference of SAAPCON-2016 around 35 active members of NSN were involved as volunteer/ presenter and as participants. On the last day of conference myself being a treasurer of SAAPCON-2016 had displayed and announced total income of SAAPCON-2016. Its my pleasure and a matter of proud that IBRO under Lecture Exchange Program (LEP) was one the main sponsor of SAAPCON. ( ) and several speakers, participants (from 16 countries) were expressed gratitude to IBRO for its praiseworthy support.
